Teen Charged As Adult In Death Of Friend's Father

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4) ― Prosecutors charged Andrew Michael Galek, 17, as an adult Thursday in the deadly stabbing of his best friend's 63-year-old father in Westminster early Sunday morning.

Galek is charged with one count of first degree murder.

The crime happened inside Hans Winter's home, where Galek was attending a sleepover with Winter's son. Police said Winter's wife woke up and found him stabbed. He died later in the day at the hospital.

Galek was believed to be under the influence of alcohol and was reportedly suicidal and upset over issues with his parents.

Police say they found Galek hiding under a parked pickup truck a short distance from the victim's home about 15 minutes after the stabbing.

Galek is due back in court Aug. 1.

He's being held without bond.
