Three people are recovering from gunshot wounds from what Denver police say appears to be some sort of overnight shootout outside a nightclub.
Officers found two victims in a parking lot outside Club Posh, and while they were there, officers heard more gunshots nearby. A third person police believe to have been shot in the nearby parking lot later walked into a hospital.
The shootings happened early Sunday, right about the time of returning to Standard Time.
"At some point people started fighting and then gunshots erupted in the parking lot," said Posh owner Stephen Lyons.
Officers spotted a car fleeing the area and chased it about 6 miles north. The car crashed, and two people were arrested. They have been identified as Steven Thomas, 28, and Darren Fuller, 24. Thomas is being held under investigation of vehicular eluding and Fuller is being held under investigation of interference with police authority.
"Officers, because they were so close, responded to that, and were able to find a vehicle that might have been related that ensued in a chase, which was terminated up in northeast Denver," Matt Murray with Denver police said.
Thomas and Fuller were not arrested in relation to the shooting. Police say they are looking for additional witnesses.
None of the shooting victims have been named by police.
Police are hoping anyone with more information will come forward.
"It could be cars, descriptions of people; they may know what led up to the event, even if they heard something, we would want to know that information," Murray said.
Lyons said as Posh has started drawing bigger crowds, he has stepped up security.
"I deeply regret the security measures in the parking lot which we have no control over," Lyons said. "Hopefully we're not looked upon as a bad club from people that couldn't get in, you know, it's Halloween."
Some witnesses at the scene said the shooter had a Halloween mask on.
The owner of a neighboring business said the club is getting pretty rough. He complained to some patrons who had been taking over his parking lot. The next day he found his windows broken out.
On Monday one victim wasa listed in critical at Denver Health Medical Center. One was listed in serious at Denver Health. The third is at Swedish Medical Center with a leg wound.
