2 CU Football Players Bond Out Of Jail

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) ― A University of Colorado football player charged with assault bonded out of jail Sunday in Boulder.

Starting tight end Riar Geer was the second Buffs player charged with assault this week. He's facing a second-degree assault charge for a fight on Friday night. It happened at 18th and Cascade in Boulder.

A man from Fort Collins said Geer started a fight with his friends. Police said there were two victims -- one had a broken jaw and the other had a broken front tooth.

"And the football player just like blindsided him right in the jaw, and he dropped to the ground instantly, he was just bleeding out of his mouth," witness Mark Thomas said.

CU freshman linebacker Lynn Katoa was out on $5,000 bail Sunday morning after turning himself into police on Friday for an assault that happened in February.

CU has suspended both football players and they will miss spring practice when it starts Monday.
