Woman Allegedly Tapes Boyfriend's Puppy To Fridge

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) ― Police in Boulder say a fight between a young couple led to a disturbing case of animal abuse.

"The officers actually responded to a report of a fight," said Sarah Huntley, Boulder Police Spokesperson. "They could hear a man and a woman screaming at each other."

Police arrested Bryan Beck and his girlfriend Abby Toll after Toll told police she taped her boyfriend's 8-month-old puppy to a refrigerator.

"First just appearing like a big ball of tape with something black in the middle of it," Huntley said. "It was when that tape started moving around that they asked what it was and the woman remarked that it was a dog."

Huntley said officers had had to cut off the tape.

"Then the dog had some sort of elastic around its paws and its ears," Huntley said. "There was also a plastic bag that had been rubber-banded and taped around its snout."

The puppy, a Shiba Inu named Rex, and Toll's Chihuahua are now under the care of the Boulder Valley Humane Society.

Toll told police she was upset with her boyfriend after the dog had bitten her and that she wanted to teach the dog a lesson. According to the police report, Toll had longstanding frustrations with Beck's dog.

Beck and Toll faces charges including false imprisonment.

Both Beck and Toll posted bond after a court hearing Wednesday afternoon.
