Arrest Made In Hit & Run That Injured Teenager

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (CBS4) ― The Commerce City Police Department said they have made an arrest in the hit and run accident that seriously injured a teenager in June.

Commerce City police said they received information that led to a suspect identified as 67-year-old Alonso Ponce-Jimenez.

Ponce-Jimenez is charged with leaving the scene of the accident involving serious bodily injury and driving with a revoked license.

D'Artagnan Dye, 13, was riding his bicycle with two friends west bound on East 75th Avenue crossing at the intersection of Oneida Street when a white truck southbound on Oneida struck him.

The truck involved in the accident was recovered at a residence in Thornton and has been impounded.

Ponce-Jimenez also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Adams County.

Alcohol involvement in this accident is unknown.
