Gunnison Area Related News 09/03/08, officers received a report of telephone harassment.
09/05/08, officers assisted the Colorado State Patrol with a one-car rollover accident on County Road 17 (Antelope Hills Road.)
09/08/08, officers were dispatched to the intersection of County Road 10 (Cranor Hill Road) and Highway 135 for the odor of natural gas. The cause of the smell was undetermined.
09/08/08, officers responded 4 miles west of Gunnison to assist the Colorado State Patrol with a 1-car traffic accident.
09/08/08, officers assisted the Gunnison Police Department with a reported gas leak near the 100-block north main.
09/10/08, officers arrested a 51-year-old Gunnison male on two failure-to-appear warrants out of Gunnison County Court. The arrest was made at the Gunnison County Sheriff's Office and went without incident.
09/10/08, officers assisted the Gunnison Police Department with a reported suicidal individual at the Wal Mart Parking lot.
09/10/08, at approximately 9:20 PM, officers were dispatched to the Dos Rios Golf Course regarding person(s) driving on a green.
09/10/08, officers were dispatched to County Road 10 (Cranor Hill Road) regarding "kids drag racing." No such acts were observed.
09/11/08, officers assisted the Gunnison Police Department with a highly intoxicated female at the intersection of 8th Street and Virginia Avenue. The subject was taken in for an alcohol welfare hold and the infant daughter in her custody was given to the grandparents.
09/11/08, officers responded to an address near Sierra Vista Way for a report of a possible Domestic Violence situation. Investigations revealed that no criminal activity took place.
09/11/08, officers and EMS responded to a motel north of Gunnison regarding a male who had cut himself accidentally.
09/12/08, officers received a report of dogs dumping trash throughout the neighborhood near Meadowlark Lane.
09/12/08, officers received a report that an unattended vehicle was broken into and personal items stolen. The vehicle was parked near Silver Jack Reservoir.
09/13/08, officers responded to a single car accident approximately 3 miles south of Gunnison on County Road 38 (Gold Basin Road).
09/13/08, officers assisted the Colorado State Patrol with a fatal motorcycle accident approximately 14 miles south of Highway 50, on Highway 114.
09/13/08, officers assisted the Gunnison Police Department with a "trespass in progress" call on Irwin Street.
09/13/08, officers and EMS responded to the Mill Lake area regarding a 50-year-old female who had suffered a broken leg while hiking.
08/13/08, officers responded to an area near County Road 730 (Ohio Creek Road) regarding a traffic complaint. Investigations revealed that juveniles were riding an ATV in the area. Officers could not prove that the individuals had been driving on County Roads. The parents were contacted and warnings were given.
09/14/08, officers were dispatched to a call concerning a young lady lying in the roadway near the intersection of County Road 10 (Cranor Hill Road) and a service road. Investigations revealed that the College coed was assisting the Western State with a Mountaineer run from Crested Butte to Gunnison. It was suggested that she further support higher education by example and stay out of the highway.
09/14/08, officers and EMS responded to County Road 7 (Miller Lane) regarding a medical issue with a male.
09/14/08, officers responded to the Gunnison County Detention Center regarding a possible fight between inmates. Case is still under investigations.
09/15/08, officers assisted the Gunnison Police Department with an arrest of a 21-year-old female at a residence near County Road 730, Ohio Creek Road. The arrest stemmed out of a failure-to-appear warrant; Gunnison City Court. The female subject was also cited for resisting.
08/15/08, officers assisted the Gunnison Police Department with two warrant related arrests within Gunnison.
09/17/08, officers were informed that a hunting group was missing two hunters from the day before. A search of the Red Creek area produced both hunters.
09/17/08, officers received a report of a missing horseman in the West Elk Wilderness area. Later the same evening the man was located.
09/18/08, at approximately 11:00 PM, officers were dispatched to a residence near Candlelight Lane concerning a possible Domestic Violence circumstance. Investigations revealed that there was probable cause to believe that a crime had taken place and subsequently a 38-year-old Gunnison County male was arrested on the charges of False Imprisonment/Domestic Violence.
09/18/08, officers investigated a vicious dog complaint in the Candlelight Lane area. Subsequent to the investigation a 69-year-old male was cited for allowing his dogs to attack domestic rabbits.
09/19/08, at approximately 6:25 PM, officers were dispatched to a residence near West Highway 50 regarding a Domestic Violence report. Investigations revealed that Domestic Violence had taken place. Subsequent to the investigation a 35-year-old Parker, Colorado male was arrested on the charges of Criminal Mischief with damages less than $500 and Harassment/Domestic.
09/20/08, at approximately 9:45 PM, officers arrested a 20-year-old Crested Butte female approximately 5 miles north of Gunnison on Highway 135. She was charged with Weaving across lanes of traffic, Driving while license was under restraint, Illegal consumption of ethyl alcohol and Driving under the influence of alcohol.
09/20/08, officers investigated an abandoned vehicle at the base of Hartman Rocks.
09/21/08, officers assisted the Gunnison Police Department with contacting a possible victim of an assault that took place in Gunnison.
09/21/08, at approximately 1:35 AM, officers arrested a 29-year-old Gunnison male on the charges of DUI and Driving without a valid driver's license. The man was stopped approximately one mile north of Gunnison on Highway 135. The vehicle that he was driving was reported stolen earlier during the day, however, the reporting party declined to level charges for the theft.
09/21/08, at approximately 8:25 PM, officers and Fire were dispatched to a residence located near County Road 51 (Old City Dump Road) regarding a possible fire; it was discovered to be an unregistered controlled burn.
09/22/08, officers and EMS responded to the Tall Texan area regarding a 60-year-old male who suffered an accident while attempting to remove a tree from his property.
09/22/08, officers and EMS responded to the Tall Texan area regarding a 77-year-old male who was suffering internal medical issues.
09/22/08, officers arrested a 23-year-old Gunnison male on two Gunnison County warrants. Total bond was $5,750.
08/22/08, at approximately 10:00 PM, officers were dispatched to a location near County Road 743, Lost Canyon Road, for a shots fired call. Investigations revealed that several persons were shooting at targets and no criminal acts were defined. It was suggested that the shooters stop shooting at such a late hour so as not to raise fear or disrupt home owners in the area.

09/14/08, officers were called concerning a lost hunter in the Coal Creek area. Subject was located.
