Gunnison Area Related News 06/16/08, Arrowhead Fire assisted the Gunnison County Sheriff's Office by successfully searching for an elderly resident of that area who was suffering from Alzheimer disease.
06/17/08, officers received a criminal mischief report concerning news paper receptacles being damaged in near Teocalli Road in the Crested Butte South subdivision.
06/17/08, officers arrested a 39-year-old Gunnison County female on a $25,000 warrant out of Rio Grande County. The arrest took place in the Gunnison County Probation Office and was conducted without incident.
06/16/08, at approximately 8:00 PM, officers, EMS and Fire responded to a grass fire near the mile marker 9 of County Road 26 (Blue Mesa Cut-off.) The fire had spread from a camp site.
06/16/08, officers received several concerns regarding an overflow on an irrigation ditch north of Gunnison. The rancher was contacted and the water was restricted
06/17/08, officers responded to a dispute between neighbors approximately 2 miles north of Gunnison. The situation was resolved without criminal charges being filed.
06/17/08, officers responded to the County Dump regarding a possible methamphetamine substance that had been discarded. Investigations revealed that the substance was not meth and was of no consequence.
06/18/08, officers received a call at a residence north of Gunnison regarding a possible child neglect issue. Case is unfounded.
06/19/08, officers received a bike theft complaint at a camp ground west of Gunnison.
06/19/08, officers received a report that kayakers were missing. Officers were able to make contact with the group and all were safe.
06/19/08, officers were called to the Blue Mesa Recreational camp regarding a disturbance between a camper and management. The camper was requested to move on and he complied.
06/21/08, officers received a ladies billfold that had been found on the highway near Blue Mesa Ranch.
06/21/08, officers were dispatched to an address near Sierra Vista Way concerning a civil issue over a right-away easement.
06/21/08, officers, Western State Mountain Rescue and EMS responded to a reported ATV accident near the Lime Ridge area of Marshall Pass in Saguache County. There were severe injuries to and both occupants were air-lifted to Penrose Hospital in Denver.
06/21/08, officers assisted the Colorado State Patrol with a two-car traffic accident near the intersection of Highway 50 and Highway 114.
06/21/08, officers received a cell call from a family that was disoriented in the Whitepine area. Within a couple hours the family was contacted and brought out safely.
06/21/08, at approximately 11:35 PM, officers received a report concerning a loud party near an address next to Pashuta Drive, Castle Mountain. A warning was extended and no return calls were received.
06/22/08, officers received a report concerning possible theft from an unoccupied vehicle. Several hundred dollars is reported missing.
Marble/Somerset Related News 05/24/08, officers assisted the Delta County Sheriff's Office and Paonia Police Department with the apprehension of an armed individual who reportedly pointed the weapon at another individual.
05/24/08, officers received a report of criminal mischief to a parked vehicle near Somerset. Case is under investigation.
05/30/08, officers received a report of theft of saddles from a residence near County Road 265, Buzzard Divide-Muddy Creek. Case is under investigation.
05/31/08, officers received a report of a suspicious circumstance in the Evergreen Lane area, however nothing could be established.
06/13/08, officers responded to a guest ranch near Marble regarding an unwanted individual. The situation was settled without law enforcement intervention.
06/18/08, officers concluded an investigation where a victim who lives in the Marble area suffered a fraud scheme that originated out of Nigeria. The crime was reported in December of 2007. At this point there are no firm leads that direct the case either for the Gunnison County Sheriff's Office or the FBI. If there were leads and a suspect was located it is certain that Nigeria would not force the extradition of one of their citizens in such a matter. We can not be careful enough when doing business over the phone or by mail.
