The Denver Police Department's Cold Case Project has released information about a fugitive they are trying to locate.
Police said Juan Carballo, 30, is wanted for a homicide in Denver.
Sonny Jackson with Denver police said on June 7, 2003, officers responded to the location of 333 S. Federal Boulevard on a report of a shooting. When they arrived they found 22-year-old Ivan Beaza-Garcia suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Denver Health Medical Center where he later died.
"The investigation found that the victim was arguing with others in a cream-colored SUV. During this argument, the suspect shot the victim. Investigators believe that the suspect fled to Mexico after the shooting," Jackson said in a prepared statement.
Carballo has also been known to go by the nick name "Junior." He has tattoos on both arms and his chest.
Police warn that Carballo is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fugitive Unit at (720) 913-6753 or call the dispatch center at (720) 913-2000. Remain anonymous and call Crime Stoppers at (720) 913-STOP (7867).
Denver police have begun a push to close cold cases by tracking down fugitives. Every week, detectives put out information on two cold cases in hopes the public can help them track down the suspects.
