Parent Investigated For Bad Fundraiser Check
A Grand Junction parent is under investigation for fraud after allegedly writing a bad check for a school fundraiser.
Investigators said the unnamed parent wrote a $1,000 check for candy and other items sold during the Nisley Elementary School fundraiser.
Officials said that amount came out of the school's account after the check was returned for insufficient funds.
School District 51 said it attempted to resolve the matter with the person who wrote the check, but turned the case over to police when talks broke down.
Police are withholding the parent's name because the parent hasn't been arrested or charged.
