Longmont Teen Arrested For 6 Alleged Arsons

LONGMONT, Colo. (CBS4) ― A 19-year-old was arrested early Tuesday on suspicion of starting six grass fires south of downtown Longmont, police said.

Over the weekend, officers and firefighters responded to five suspicious fires in the fields near the 1400 block of South Collyer Street.

The police organized a special unit to patrol the area.

A sixth fire was reported at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday in the same area. Officers quickly arrived and found Daniel C. Shook.

He was arrested after footprints, other physical evidence and interviews with investigators were reviewed.

Shook faces six counts of fourth degree arson. Each county is a class 3 misdemeanor. He is being held in the Boulder County Jail.
