Police in Aurora have made an arrest in the murder of a woman in February of 2007.

Police said they arrested Daniel Jesus Lopez, 27, on Feb. 28 for the murder of Yong Soon Kirk.

Lopez was arrested in December on drug charges in Denver. He pleaded guilty to the charges and provided a DNA sample as required by law. The sample was entered into the national DNA data base. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation then notified Aurora police his sample matched samples recovered from the crime scene involving Kirk.

An autopsy revealed Kirk was severely beaten.

Lopez is being held on two charges of first degree homicide, one charge of first degree sexual assault, and one charge of first degree burglary.
