Investigators say a man told a jewelry store clerk at Southwest Plaza he was getting married in Las Vegas, asked to see two wedding rings and then ran out the door with both without paying.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department said Friday that one ring taken in the June 5 robbery at Samuels Jewelry Store in Littleton was gold and the other was platinum.
Each had a 1-carat diamond. Their value wasn't released.
The suspect was described as being an Hispanic male in his 20s, approximately 6-foot-1, weighing 180 pounds and with black hair shaved on the sides and short spikes on top.
Investigators say a man with a similar appearance used the same ploy to rob another jewelry store on May 31, but it wasn't immediately clear how much jewelry was taken there.
Sheriff's department officials told CBS4 on Friday they recommend that jewerly store employees obtain some form of identification from customers before allowing them to look at any merchandise.
