Denver police on Thursday were investigating an officer-involved shooting that left a man dead.
Two officers responded to a home at 4503 Fillmore Street about 1:20 a.m. on a domestic disturbance call. Inside, they found someone who had appeared to be assaulted.
When the officers started questioning a suspect, he came at them with what appeared to be a gun.
At least one of the officers shot the suspect, who was pronounced dead at Denver Health Medical Center.
"At this point in time, the officers are downtown," said Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson. "We're speaking to them. We're talking to witnesses in the area. We'll put it all together and we'll have a better assessment of what took place."
Homicide investigators and crime scene investigators had to wait until after 5:30 a.m. for a search warrant so they could go inside the house to collect evidence.
