$3,000 Reward Offered After 2 Cows Shot To Death

MEEKER, Colo. (AP) ― A $3,000 reward is being offered for information about the shooting deaths of two cows in Rio Blanco County.

Undersheriff Michael Joos says both animals were shot with .40-caliber bullets, the first shooting occurring in mid-January. That was shortly after a third cow was struck and killed by a vehicle.

Another cow was found dead of a gunshot wound toward the end of the month, but authorities say it may have been shot the same day as the first one.

The Oldland family owned the cows. They joined with operators of another ranch to offer the reward, but so far, no one has come forward.

The grandson of ranch operator Norma Oldland, 28-year old Coe Uphoff, says the three cows were pregnant and likely worth a couple thousand dollars each.
