Pavilions Makeover Just In Time For The Holidays

DENVER (CBS4) ― The Denver Pavilions has had an extreme makeover just in time for holiday shopping.

There are fancy new escalators, new LED screens, new lighting and they even touched up the landscaping.

The "re-introduction" was kicked off Tuesday with a celebrity fashion show featuring Mayor John Hickenlooper.

The Gart family now owns the Pavilions. They're spending $25 million to upgrade the shopping center.

Hickenlooper hopes the new look will help the downtown economy.

"The renovation of Pavilions is not only stunning, it's beautiful, as you'll all get to see," Hickenlooper said. "It sets the stage for our working our way out of this recession."

Many of the stores have some special deals and events going on this week to celebrate.
