For Sale: Sterling Elementary School, Large Lot

STERLING, Colo. (AP) ― Home sellers aren't the only ones suffering in the soft real-estate market -- the Valley School District has been trying to sell an elementary school in Sterling for more than a year.

The district closed Stevens Elementary so it would have fewer buildings to maintain. Officials have put the value of the property at about $558,000.

The nearly 29,000-square-foot building was built in 1953. It sits on a lot of more than 200,000 square feet.

Three parties have looked at the property but no one has made an offer.
