In this slumping economy, one business is definitely booming -- psychics are seeing a huge increase in customers.
Financial uncertainty has many people turning to those who claim to see the future.
"I'm worried about the economy right now. I'm looking for a job. I'm a single mom," Lindsay Cavalli said.
Cavalli is worried about her financial future so she turned to the stars for answers. She went to an astrologer for advice on getting a job.
"She sort of gives you an overview of the year and mostly of the next three months to five months of what can happen to you, but you have to make it happen as well," Cavalli said.
Psychology experts say more people go to psychics during times of economic distress or a national emergency, and astrologer Ingrid Jeffries is feeling the trend.
"More people are coming in; my Web site is getting more traffic, more people contacting me from all over the country actually," Jeffries said. "People want to know. They want to be forewarned. They want to prepare."
Jeffries calls herself a "life directions consultant." She says astrology is good with timing and that's where she comes in. She let Cavalli know she should start putting resumes out there now because opportunities for landing a job will be high starting next month.
"See that's something an astrologer can do is give her timing and let her know when is going to be the time she's going to reap rewards," Jeffries said.
"Everything she's said has been right on," Cavalli said. "Sometimes it comes at a different time. It may be a month or two off or three months off, but usually what she says. I've rarely found anything not to happen that she says."
Cavalli sees Jeffries about twice a year. She says knowing what's in the stars makes her better prepare for the future.
Jeffries says her first sessions are usually about an hour and a half and cost $150.
