White Wave Announces Silk Soymilk Recall

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (CBS4) ― White Wave Foods announced Thursday that they are recalling 11-ounce plastic single-serving bottles of Silk Soymilk Chocolate Flavor because the bottles may contain milk.

The recall should be heeded by anyone who might drink the product who has an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk.

The bottles are printed on the back with both a "use by" date of May 7, 2008 (printed as 05 07 08) and a Universal Product Code (UPC) of 2529360028.

While no one in Colorado apparently has been affected by the presence of the milk in the normally milk-free product, some reports of reaction or illness have come from consumers in other states.

A prepared statement about the recall states that the "product was distributed nationwide and reached consumers through retail and food service outlets. Although the product was distributed in Colorado, it is unlikely that the product is still on store shelves as distributors have been working to have it removed."

White Wave Foods, a subsidiary of Dean Foods, is based in Broomfield. Consumers with questions can call the company at (800) 587-2259 or visit the Web site through the Related Link at right.
