Tallest Residential Building To Go Up In Denver
A previous version of the this story had the building located at 4th and Lawrence. It is actually 14th and Lawrence.
DENVER (CBS4) ―
Construction is scheduled to start next year on a 51-story condominium tower in downtown Denver.
The new building will be called "1401 Lawrence" and will take up much of the block at 14th Ave. and Lawrence Street.
Ground breaking for the tower will be January 2008. It will be five floors shy of the Republic Plaza Building, which is Denver's tallest.
Developers said the building will have a glass front on all four sides and house 145 residential suites. It will also have a state-of-the-art fitness center, valet parking and even a dog washing and grooming station. There will also be a roof top garden.
"We found you have such magnificent views here in Denver," Anna Simone with Interior Design said at a news conference. "One thing that we felt was very important was to maintain the views, so when we are looking at the suites, you'll notice that there are as few walls as you possible could have without compromising privacy."
The construction company is called Great Gulf Group. It's a Canadian company.
Artist Dale Chihuly is working on the project and it will take two years to build.
