Netflix Sues Blockbuster
Accusing Competitor Of Patent Infringement
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) ―
Online DVD rental service Netflix has sued Blockbuster, accusing the competitor of patent infringement for allegedly copying its ideas in the video store chain's recent Internet expansion.
The complaint was filed in U-S District Court in San Francisco. It focuses on the online wish lists that prioritize the DVD requests of more than $5 million people who subscribe to either Netflix or Blockbuster's Internet service.
Netflix also believes its patents cover perhaps its most popular feature -- the option of renting a DVD for an unlimited time without incurring late fees.
Blockbuster has so far declined to comment on the suit.
