Former Denver Broncos safety John Lynch will play for the New England Patriots this season, sources close to the situation tell the CBS4 Broncos Insiders.
The official announcement about the signing reportedly will be made by the Patriots on Thursday evening or on Friday.
Lynch was granted his release from the Broncos in late July after playing for the team since 2004.
He was reportedly taking a physical for the Patriots on Wednesday.
Lynch helped Denver reach the AFC Championship Game in 2005, marking his third career conference championship game appearance.
He won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2002 and has been selected to the Pro Bowl nine times.
