HEAD COACH MIKE SHANAHAN

On LB Boss Bailey's injury status (right ankle)

"He was on crutches today. It's a high ankle sprain, and we're really not sure how long it will be. He will be getting a lot of treatment, and as soon as he is ready he will be back. You're hoping for sure (that he will be ready for the regular season), but I'm not really sure at this time. High ankle sprains—Sometimes they are worse than a broken ankle, and other times they are back in a couple of weeks. We will keep our fingers crossed. He will be getting a lot of treatment and working on it so we will wait and see."

On preseason injuries

"The only big loss is (RB) Ryan Torain because he is gone for the majority of the season—It's in that three-month area. The other guys are coming back, so that's a plus. We have some guys banged up a little bit and that's camp. Hopefully we don't lose very many."

On LB Louis Green's injury status (concussion/neck)

"Louis Green is much better. He will not play this week. Hopefully he gets cleared at the end of this week and the numbness goes away and the tingling sensation that he has in his fingers goes away. If it does then he will be ready to go."

On whether C Tom Nalen (knee) is improving

"Yes, he is. He is feeling better. He was still not good enough to go today, but according to 'Greek' (Head Athletic Trainer Steve Antonopulos) there was improvement, so that's a good sign."

On the progress of the offensive line

"I thought they played very well in the game (vs. Houston). I was really pleased with their effort. Obviously we had seven penalties by rookies and that usually goes hand-in-hand with young players. I liked their effort and I liked the way they played. They just keep getting better and better. I love the way they pass protected the majority of the game and it was very good for their first outing."

On practicing against the Dallas Cowboys this week

"It will be good work against a team that obviously is picked to be one of the best in the National Football League. It should be a lot of fun and a good way to evaluate a lot of our players."
