The day after Sen. Barack Obama was elected to become the next President of the United States, Denver Broncos players talked to CBS4 about how they felt after the historic election.
Cornerback Champ Bailey said he can sense a difference about to happen.
"Forty years ago Martin Luther King was killed. He was the biggest African American influence in this country, and now here we are 40 years later with an African American president. Who could have said this would have happened?" Bailey said. "I think this country has come a long way and hopefully, as the United States, we can build off this."
Defensive end Ebenezer Ekuban said he thought Obama's election was tremendous and historical.
"Never did I think in my lifetime I would see a decision like that made," Ekuban said. "It was great to see everybody vote and it's great to see the country moving in a new direction."
Ekuban thinks Obama will bring a lot of new energy and focus to the county.
"It's what the county wanted and I'm excited we have some change," he said.
"It's unbelievable man. You know when I was going up and I had goals and people asked me, 'What are your dreams?' President was the last thing I would say," cornerback Dre' Bly said.
Bly said it shows the change that we've had in the world and the times are different.
"No matter what color you are, everything's possible," he said. "It's like we are a big family and for him to become president is going to be big for our kids."
Bly feels Obama being elected will motivate minorities more, letting them know anything is possible for them through hard work and dedication. But he was quick to say he doesn't think it's about color. He feels it's about having somebody who can lead, and he feels Obama is the man to do it.
Wide receiver Brandon Stokley said he just hopes Obama comes in and does a good job.
"It doesn't matter who it is or what color they are, just hopefully he comes in and does a good job for our nation," Stokley said.
Offensive tackle Ryan Harris said he thinks Obama's election says the American people are making progress in racial relations.
"As an American, I'm proud that America has gotten past that point and I look forward to the future," Harris said.
Wide receiver Brandon Marshall said his mother called right after it was announced that Obama had won and told him that when he has his first born child to tell him, "You can be anything you want to be -- and make him believe it."
"It gave me goose bumps," Marshall said. "It was really moving."
The Broncos (4-4) will look to win for their eighth-straight time against Cleveland (3-5) on Thursday in Ohio. Kickoff is set for 6:15 p.m. MST. After a stellar year at quarterback for the Browns last year, Derek Anderson has been benched for Brady Quinn.
The Browns are coming off a 37-27 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
