MONTBELLO, Colo. (CBS4) ―
A sculpture of the late Denver Bronco Darrent Williams will soon stand at the Boys and Girls Club in Montebello. The club commissioned a local artist to create a sculpture of Williams.
Ed Dwight is internationally known for his art based in black history. Now he's giving a lesson in the arts to some young African American students. His north Denver studio is as much about where he came from as where he's going.
"It wasn't until I started doing this that I really found myself, Dwight said.
The Bronco Boys and Girls Club members will have a hands-on opportunity to help by making molds, forming clay and casting bronze.
The sculpture will be bigger than life, much like the man it represents.
"I'm just glad that we're doing something to help because we're bringing a lot of people from around the community to recognize his death and have respect for his life," Boys & Girls Club member Passion Lyons said.
The sculpture project will continue over the next few months. When it's done it will stand outside the new teen center.
