Written by Jesse Sarles, cbs4denver.com
LITTLETON, Colo. (CBS4) ― Kenny Peterson says Denver Broncos rookie safety Darcel McBath is coming along.

McBath has been doing that and more for the Broncos in his first pro season. He's tied for the team lead in special teams tackles.

"He's a physical player, he knows the game and he's always in there in film sessions, so he's definitely good when he's out there and I feel comfortable when he's out there," Peterson said on Monday on CBS4's Comcast Broncos Live!

McBath, the special guest, talked about taking over at the safety position during Sunday's game against the Chargers when veteran Brian Dawkins left the game with an injury.

"I don't know if I'm filling his shoes, I'm just going in there trying to do the best I can. We happen to play the same position, so I know all the calls. I know the defense and I just try to go in there and try to play the game that I play," McBath said.

As far as special teams goes, McBath said opposing units are playing harder and more disciplined against the Broncos after seeing how tough they've been.

"We have a great special teams unit. We take pride in it," McBath said.

Peterson said the Giants game on Thanksgiving is going to be interesting because it's a team the Broncos don't play very often.

"We'll see what happens Thursday," Peterson said.
