Broncos Consider Selling Ads On Practice Jerseys

DENVER (CBS4/AP) ― The Denver Broncos are considering selling advertising space on players' practice jerseys.

Joe Ellis, the team's chief operating officer, says the ads are something the team is exploring as they get ready for the new season.

He also said the team is in negotiations with the Colorado Lottery to use the team's logo on lottery tickets.

The NFL recently relaxed its rules regarding deals between teams and state lotteries. Ellis says he's hopeful the Broncos can reach a partnership agreement with the Lottery.

It would give an advertising opportunity for about three weeks during the team's training camps.

"I have no doubt it would be for a classy ad for a fine firm for those teams that do it," said Jim Saccomano, Bronco's Vice President of Public Relations.

Saccomano thinks the ad would be placed on one of the jersey shoulders.

"They decide, make those decisions and we just roll with them," Head Coach Josh McDaniels said.

Former Miami Dolphin and 8-year cornerback Andre Goodman has learned to be flexible.

"If the billboard is going to make me tackle better, maybe, but if it's not, it doesn't bother me," Goodman said.

"I just put on a jersey and go out and play and listen to coach and try to get better," rookie Alphonso Smith said.

Fans had mixed reactions to the ads.

"I think I really wouldn't mind it, especially if I could get one of my firms on there," a fan said.

"I'd like not to see advertisements on the jerseys," another said. "That would be one less commercial out there."

For now the NFL says there will be no ads on jerseys on game day.
