Karlyn Tilley
Award-winning reporter Karlyn Tilley is excited to be in her hometown and working at CBS4. Karlyn was born in Green Bay Packer territory, but moved to Denver Broncos country at the age of 5. She attended elementary school in Littleton, Colorado then moved to Golden where she graduated from Golden High School.
Throughout her life, Karlyn has been fortunate to work and travel to many unique locations. At age 14, she was an exchange student in Punta Arenas, Chile. She fell in love with the Spanish language and has been working to master it since.
While attending the University of Missouri School of Journalism, Karlyn began her first job in television at KOMU-TV, an NBC affiliate in Columbia, Missouri. There, she did it all ... from operating the camera, to serving as graphics designer and audio operator to news producer, reporter and anchor.
After graduation, Karlyn moved to Boise, Idaho, where she served as a reporter and fill-in anchor at KBCI-TV. She even had an opportunity to forecast weather for the morning show, and one of her stories included jumping out of an airplane live on TV. From Boise, Karlyn moved on to El Paso, Texas, where she served as weekend anchor and weekday reporter for KFOX-TV.
In 2001, she got the chance to come back to Denver and worked as the weekend morning anchor and weekday reporter for KMGH-TV for more than three years before joining CBS4.
Karlyn has won more than a dozen local, regional and national awards for her reporting including a prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for Best News Series. She was also recognized with two Regional Emmy Awards as lead reporter.
"Now that I'm home, I plan to stay here," Karlyn said. "My goal is not only to live and work in Colorado, but to get involved in as many aspects of the community as possible. I want to know those affected by the news, as well as those who make the news."
In her free time, Karlyn loves to sing, exercise, check out new Denver restaurants and hit all the classic hangouts with her friends. She also spends as much time as possible with her German shepherd, Radar.
