CBS4 Anchor/Reporter Ericka Lewis has returned home to Denver!
The former Smoky Hill High School Buffalo and her husband currently live in Boulder with their son Joshua and the newest addition to their family Summer. Summer was born in April 2008. Ericka is enjoying the joys and challenges of motherhood during the weekdays and spends time with her CBS family on the weekends anchoring the weekend morning newscasts.
Ericka has become very active in many local organizations including the Boulder Chapter of the "I Have a Dream Foundation" where she was a mentor and committee member for the non-profit group. She is also very involved in the Parenting Place and the YWCA of Boulder County.
Living in Colorado, Ericka and her husband spend a lot of time outdoors mountain biking, hiking and of course tackling Colorado's toughest mountains on snowboards. We can't leave out running in the Bolder Boulder on Memorial Day and the Cherry Creek Sneak. In October 2007, Ericka ran in the Denver Marathon, completing her first half-marathon.
Ericka joined the CBS4 team in 2002. She was named the 2006 Broadcast Journalist of the Year by the Colorado Association of Black Journalist.
Before returning to Colorado, Ericka worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor at WRAL-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina. She also worked as a morning and weekend anchor at WMTV in Madison, Wisconsin, where she was honored with a Wisconsin Associated Press Award. She began her broadcasting career in 1996 in Dubuque, Iowa at KFXB-TV, where she participated in a popular cross-state biking challenge named RAGBRI.
Throughout her career, Ericka has covered everything from hurricanes, to floods to wildfires, but what she enjoys most is meeting people in her community and covering stories relevant to their lives. Ericka says there's nothing more rewarding than receiving a call from a viewer thanking her for a story that has touched him or her in some way.
