Brooke Wagner

Brooke Wagner joined CBS4 just as the first snow of the season began to fly in 2002. According to Brooke, it's a treat to live in a city with so much to offer. She says "CBS4 has a wonderful national reputation and Denver is a great town with plenty of outdoor recreation, down-to-earth people and snow."

Prior to joining CBS4, Brooke served as the co-anchor of the 10 p.m. news at KSWB-TV in San Diego where she had been since 1999. Before KSWB-TV, she was the main 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. anchor at KTBC-TV in Austin, Texas. She spent her early days as a broadcast journalist at WTAJ-TV, the CBS affiliate in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and in her first broadcast journalism position at the CBS affiliate in Sherman, Texas, she served not only as anchor and reporter, but also as the videographer, editor and producer!

Brooke has a weekly interview segment called "Breakfast with Brooke" in which she has talked with subjects such as First Lady Jeannie Ritter, Rockies' Pitcher Jeff Francis, and CU President Hank Brown. Brooke is also CBS4's Wednesday's Child reporter. Each week she has the privilege of meeting with a child from the Adoption Exchange, who is looking for a family. She is very active in the Adoption Exchange, emceeing events and rallying for donations to help children and adoptive families. She also enjoys speaking to "Girls Can", a group that helps young girls learn about jobs and finances. In addition, she is a member of P.E.O. International, a foundation which provides educational opportunities for women.

Though Brooke was born in the Philippines (her Dad was a Navy pilot), she was raised in Des Moines, Iowa and graduated with honors from Southern Methodist University in Dallas with a degree in journalism. Her brother and grandfather are also pilots, and her mother is a former teacher.

She's an award-winning journalist who's been recognized multiple times. Brooke has received three Emmy nominations for reporting, one for best franchise report, two Emmys for best newscast, the Scribes in Excellence Award, the American Heart Association's Paul R. Ellis Media Award for health reporting, a Society of Professional Journalists Award for outstanding series reporting, was named as one of San Diego Magazine's 50 people to watch, and was chosen to emcee George W. Bush's gubernatorial inaugural ball. In 2001, Brooke also received several awards for her work in covering the shootings at Santana High School, including the prestigious Associated Press Bill Stout Memorial Award that her station's team won for Spot News Coverage.

Brooke and her husband, a sportscaster-turned-attorney, have a young daughter and son. Brooke and her family are active members of their church. They thoroughly enjoy the family activities which Denver offers, such as The Children's Museum, Zoo, and Butterfly Pavilion.
